Constructions Company
The substantial addition and building refurbishment to a Brisbane construction builders reflects the recent growth of the company, and showcases the client’s values and capabilities.
This rejuvenated building exemplifies the challenges of integrating a tastefully renovated building into a breath taking extension in a contemporary style. The juxtaposition between old and new is employed through a mix of patterned weathering steel cladding extending into the recycled timber cladding of the extension with its glass and silver composite cladding. The street façade is enhanced with a suspended glass awning providing a contemporary extension of those on the historic neighbouring buildings. This comfortable relationship is indicative of the collaboration between the client and architect in harvesting the creative energy which contributed to the overall appeal of the project.
The building is constructed of prefabricated steel structure and modular suspended slab and boundary wall components, thereby limiting operational disruption to the site. Dimensions and proportions were derived from standard modular component sizes, limiting materials wastage. Extensive use of recycled timber not only reflects the sustainable ethos of the client, but adds warmth to the otherwise metallic composition.
