Music Centre
This challenging brief and budget saw the clever renovation of the old Shortall building into a modern and pleasing Music Centre. The commission included the cosmetic refurbishment of the building facades, while refurbishing the undercroft provided a few surprises. The old metalwork rooms where transformed into a symphony of three large music classrooms, five recording and practice studios, staff facilities and a commemorative reception area. The carefully designed and specified acoustics allow the students to play their instruments without disruption to the conventional classrooms on the level above. A large adjoining performing amphitheatre provides a great location for musical performances with an infrastructure which is able to support top quality productions.
